London Art Exchange (LAX) – Shipping & Delivery Policy

This Shipping & Delivery Policy applies to all purchases and auction sales made through London Art Exchange Limited (“LAX”, “we”, “our”, “us”). It covers both gallery/private sales and items purchased via our auction platform at www.lax.art.


1. General Terms

  • All items are subject to verification, authentication, and secure packaging before dispatch.
  • Delivery timelines begin once LAX has received full payment and completed necessary checks.
  • Clients are responsible for providing accurate delivery details.

2. Delivery Timelines

  • Standard timeframe: We aim to dispatch within 3–5 working days of receiving the artwork into LAX’s possession, completing authentication, and packaging.
  • Extended timeframe: In some cases, delivery may take up to 10 working days, depending on item complexity, framing, certification, or external courier schedules.
  • Estimated delivery times are for guidance only and are not guaranteed.

3. Delivery Methods

  • We work with specialist couriers experienced in handling fine art, collectibles, and high-value assets.
  • Clients may arrange their own courier/collection with prior written agreement.
  • All deliveries are traceable and require signature on receipt.

4. Shipping Costs & Insurance

  • All shipping, insurance, customs duties, and applicable taxes are the responsibility of the Buyer/Client, unless expressly agreed otherwise.
  • Insurance cover during transit is optional but strongly recommended; LAX is not liable for uninsured transit losses.
  • Risk passes to the Buyer/Client once the item leaves our premises or authorised storage facility.

5. International Shipping

  • International deliveries are available. Costs, duties, and import/export regulations are the responsibility of the Buyer/Client.
  • Delays caused by customs clearance are outside LAX’s control.

6. Storage & Collection

  • Buyers may request storage of purchased Lots at LAX’s discretion. Storage fees may apply.
  • Collection from our London gallery must be arranged in advance and only once full payment and verification are complete.

7. Delivery Issues

  • In the event of courier delays, damage, or loss, LAX will assist in liaising with the courier/insurer but accepts no liability beyond statutory rights.
  • Claims must be made promptly and accompanied by supporting documentation.

8. Refund Window

  • Refunds (where permitted) are only available within 14 calendar days from the date payment was made, not from delivery date.
  • Auction sales are final and non-refundable except where required by law.

9. Liability

  • LAX takes all reasonable care in handling, packing, and dispatching items.
  • Liability for losses is limited to direct costs and capped at the amount paid by the Buyer/Client.
  • We exclude liability for:
    • Delays outside our control (courier, customs, force majeure).
    • Indirect or consequential losses.
    • Buyer’s failure to insure or provide correct delivery information.
  • These limits do not affect rights you may have under UK consumer law.

10. Amendments

We may update this Shipping & Delivery Policy at any time. Updates will be effective once posted on our website.
