FUTURE GENERATION

Description

In Future Generation, Mr Phantom turns his focus to childhood, not as innocence, but as early conditioning. Three children stand beneath speech bubbles that have been violently crossed out, their thoughts erased before they are ever allowed to form. The figures appear mid-conversation, mid-gesture, mid-question, yet every attempt at expression is silenced. The work confronts the systems that shape belief from the earliest age: education, media, politics, and social expectation. Here, censorship is not reactive; it is pre-emptive. By targeting the voices of children rather than adults, Phantom exposes a deeper discomfort, the fear of unfiltered thought. The piece asks whether the next generation is being taught how to think, or simply what to repeat. The stark contrast, absence of colour, and brutal interruption of language reflect a future where speech exists, but meaning does not.
