Description

In Trickle-Down, Mr Phantom offers a pointed critique of wealth distribution and the economic theory from which the work takes its title. Faceless figures gather around an overflowing champagne tower, their celebration occupying the upper reaches of the composition while a solitary figure waits far beneath them. From this abundance, only a single drop descends, exposing the imbalance between those who possess wealth and those expected to benefit from its eventual circulation. The vast empty space separating the two groups becomes a visual measure of economic distance, reinforcing the divide between privilege and need. Through restrained satire, the work questions whether prosperity truly travels downward, or whether the promise of shared wealth remains largely symbolic.
