In Peace Offering, Mr Phantom reworks the familiar dove of peace through a stark reversal of colour and expectation. Rendered almost entirely in black, the bird carries the olive branch with its wings fully extended, retaining the gesture of reconciliation while bearing the visual weight of conflict. The restrained composition gives the symbol a monumental presence, while the dripping pigment introduces a sense of damage and unease beneath its apparent stillness. Rather than presenting peace as innocent or effortless, the work suggests it can emerge from violence, compromise and collective memory. Peace Offering becomes a meditation on the fragile act of extending reconciliation when the consequences of conflict remain visible.
