Todd Goldman takes one of the biggest statements imaginable and gives it the most ordinary ending possible — apparently Jesus was just behind the couch. The oversized green sofa, simple black outlines and almost childlike figure turn the scene into a wonderfully ridiculous game of hide-and-seek. Todd’s humour works through the contrast: a phrase loaded with spiritual meaning suddenly becomes completely literal. After centuries of searching for answers, it turns out somebody just needed to move the furniture.
