Description

In Cattle Class, Mr Phantom transforms the livestock pen into an image of contemporary digital life, where technology becomes both distraction and instrument of control. Each animal moves with its attention fixed upon a screen, unaware of the path ahead or the hook positioned beside them. The restricted palette is interrupted by an artificial blue glow, drawing the eye towards the very devices that command the flock’s attention. By replacing human figures with sheep, the artist questions conformity, habitual consumption and our willingness to follow systems we rarely stop to examine. The work presents a dark reflection on a society increasingly connected to its devices, yet potentially detached from its own agency.
